hello. im back from msia

5 days ago, which was a sunday. yepp.

frankly, im rotting at home. i have tons of stuff like packing my books, doing lan's bday card(which i owe her for weeks), thinking abt my future, doing my theory hw awaiting for me to do but what i did the past few days was nothing except glueing my eyes onto the tv and practising my piano(at the very least, it was something meaningful)

anw, im here to blog about my msia trip (1-7 dec 2008) (:

day 1 - spore to cameron highlands

i was forced to wake up at 7 in the morning, took lrt to cck mrt station where we met aunt, uncle and cousins. we (all of us) headed to kranji, boarded 170 to spore checkpoint and another 170 to larkin where we had our breakfast. i had happy meal and got a madagascar toy which goes 'i like to move it move it'x3 when it was shaken. haha. it was super cute. anw, after breakfast, we got on a coach to tapah. the journey took approximately 7 hours. yea super duper ultra long. what a slow driver. the songs in my hp wasnt able to entertain me for long and i became very bored very quickly. so i decided to take some photos (:

Photobucket
that's me! and that girl behind me (cute right?) yupp but she was a total disturbance. she kept (i duno why she had the strength to) pulling my seat to the back and then pushing it to the front. a lousy chair i supposed.

nvm. anw,

jb-tapah papa
this's papa.

then, we alighted at some odd bus stop which was opposite a petrol station, and in the middle of a hospital and a school. lol.

some mr nice guy helped us called for 2 cabs to cameron highlands. the road to cameron highlands was super windy. there was almost 1 turn every 50m. can u imagine? the distance from the foot of mountain to the town named tanah rata where our resort was was about 60km. so there was like 60000/50=1200 ONE THOUSAND AND TWO HUNDRED TURNS! O.o

when we reached tanah rata, it was dark, very windy and chilly. the cab driver took a while to find our greenview resort which results to be the same as some heritage hotel. after checking in, we walked to the town, had dinner, bought some stuff for cooking, went back, played mahjong until 1 am.

day 2 - tour in cameron highlands

stop 1: gunung brinchang - the peak of cameron highlands. 6666 feet = 2.0317968km! above sea level (even higher than genting highlands! :D)

we climbed up some observatory tower (not really a tower. it's just some structure to view the scenery) and took some pics. it was like freezing up there. cos we were in the clouds! the scenery was breath-taking. u can see the whole of cameron highlands. really beautiful!

see this.

that's me.

stop 2: mossy forest trekking

this was extremely fun but my precious running shoes turned brown at the end of the trekking(heart-breaking). we got to know more about wildlife but the real fun lay in avoiding stepping in the muddy soft soil as we proceeded up rather steep path by stepping on some fallen branches and roots while grabbing onto some tree stem and branches.

mossy forest trekking-obstacle!
obstacle!

mossy forest trekking-me,mummy
yay im leading the way!

mossy forest trekking-follow me!
wen wen v pro! his shoes was the cleanest after the trek.

mossy forest trekking- im following

mossy forest trekking - me,ck
me again!

mosssy forest trekking-pitcher plant!
yupp we found some dead pitcher plant! (it's papa who plucked it down from a pitcher plant, not me!)

mossy forest trekking-me on edge of steep rock grabbing on branch!
that's me again! standing on the edge of a VERY VERY STEEP rock where i caught another magnificient view of cameron highlands. lots of trees. lots of fresh air (:

mossy forest trekking - ck on edge of steep rock
my bro! on the same spot i stood. an face with no expression as usual. SMILE BOY!

mossy forest trekking - ck smiled on edge of steep rock
and he did. so obedient! hahas.

mossy forest trekking - clean shoes2
(very very random) my CLEANed shoes after trekking!

stop 3: sungei palas boh tea plantation

sungei palas boh tea plantation-me,ck
bro and me! standing in the middle of the big big big big tea plantations. u know it's v tough to get to that spot where i was standing at cos the space between the rows of tea plants are very very narrow. ha and this proved that im not fat :D lol.

sungei palas boh tea plantation-me
me! tea plantations in the background.

sungei palas boh tea plantation - papa, mummy,ck,me
family! same background :D lol.

next, we proceeded to the tea factory, then the tea shop where we bought a small can of GRADE ONE boh tea leaves and a box of GRADE TWO boh tea packets (that's all~). we had some snacks at the cafe nearby and i managed to snap a perfect pic of the tea plantations.

here it is.
sungei palas boh tea plantation - view from tea shop

stop 4: vege farm.

many many types of vege grown there. and those vege (i duno what's the quantity) are bought by the govt at 20cents (of course in RM) (cos the land is still owned by the msian govt) and sold to supermarkets at RM2. just imagine the amount of profit the govt earns.

anw, soon, it started pouring. papa managed to snap a pic before we sought refuge in the shop the farmer owns.

vege farm-im short and fat
yupp this. i do look really fat and short in this pic D:

at the shop, mum and aunt bought a lot of vege and fruits which were all to be cooked that and the following night for dinner. besides vege and fruits, the shop also sold fried WORMS. i freaked the moment wen wen brought that packet of worms right in front of my eyes and said," hey want to buy prawn crackers?" yucks. totally revolting. while waiting for the rain to subside, i took a look at some pots of flowers and saw this!

vege farm - flowers in shop
duno what flower is this but i thought it was pretty beautiful (:

stop 5: honey bee farm

we could have seen bees (many many bees) flying around us, some even landing on our shoulders but we were told that after a downpour, all the bees would be hiding in their i dunno their house? or sanctury? and would not be seen flying all over the farm. v disappointed though i knew that i wont have the guts to enter the farm. dad bought a bottle of honey which can be drunk by adding it to warm water. i sampled one tiny little cup of honey and it tasted super duper nice! and i was told that this honey drink can help relieve coughs and sore throats and boost health i think.

stop 6: big red strawberry farm - the last stop of the day. actually, there was the butterfly and insects farm, cactus valley and temple but we decided to cancel the visit to these places and head back to rest.

we got to learn more about hydroponics there, shopped and grabbed some snacks. mum bought strawberry jam, strawberry tarts. dad bought salad. bro and i bought whipped potato and fried strawberry ice cream. everything there was like strawberries and more strawberries. all the strawberries are home-grown. v fresh but a little sour cos it is the rainy season now. if u wanna taste sweet strawberries, u should come at around march, april and june. that's what the tour guide said.

before we left, i took a pic. i looked like some kiddo uh. lol.
big red strawberry farm
yupp. some strawberry plants in the background!

tour-resort - me
hahas. that's me. on the way back to resort. :D

day 3 - brinchang town - the largest town on cameron highlands

brinchang town-tanah rata town
me again! on the bus from tanah rata to brinchang town.

unlike tanah rata, brinchang town has lots and lots of restaurants. there is even kfc! hahas. anw, we dined at a chinese restaurant, walked around, went to a market (which was like those temporary night markets in spore). we spent lots of time there not shopping but waiting for the rain to subside. yes, it rained again.

at around 5, with my legs aching (due to the lack of exercise obviously), i,together with the others, headed back to bus stop to catch our bus back to tanah rata.

walking from market to bus stop.
brinchang town - gl in wrong direction
uh im facing the wrong direction -.=

@ the bus stop.
brinchang town - busstop-me,ck
why am i squatting? anw poor lighting. let's take another one!

better. yupp anw that's brinchang town in the background.

day 4 - cameron highlands to KL to genting highlands

just like the first day, we spent the entire day travelling.

anw, this is our resort.
resort1
that's me! our chalet is on the 2nd storey. and our chalet name is ASTER. lol. what coincidence! aster(name of my chalet), aster(bio term), ester(chem term), esther! hahahs.

resort-papa,ck,me,mummy
family outside resort.

we reached the bus station at 9+++.
while waiting for the arrival of the bus which was supposed to arrive at tanah rata at 1030, we took some pics.

bus station-mummy,ck,me
bro is tall O.o

bus station-ck,mummy,me,papa
bro is really tall! D:

we went back to the bus station and found ourselves waiting for the bus (just a normal NORMAL bus) for another 30 minutes! i was like fuming mad. how can the bus be SO LATE? ehh actually the bus was long ago parked at the bus station so more correctly, the one who was tardy was the bus driver. what he think he was? so da4 pai1.

anw, the journey to KL was super long. 5-6 hours i think. another slow driver. we got stucked in a traffic jam and worst of all, it was raining (again) extremely heavily. the roads were like flooded and the level of the rainwater was so high that it reached and covered 1/5 of the wheels of a car. then that wierd driver stopped at some odd place and asked all the passengers to alight. the place wasnt even a bus stop. it was like somewhere in the middle of a row of shops. what a lousy bus driver. we were left with no choice but to take a cab to our genting view resort (located 10km away from the peak of genting highlands). we checked in, had dinner, went to gunung rata town, watched i not stupid too, played mahjong and then slept.

day 5 - genting theme park!

we woke up at 7++ (ya extremely early), caught the 9am shuttle bus to the skyway station where we took a cable car to genting! the cable car system is the fastest in the world and the longest in southeast asia! yupp it's 3.4km long.

cable car to genting - me3
that's me standing on the cable car. yea im not allowed to do so but who cares? hahas.

cable car to genting - me5
me again! rainforest in the background.

after mum bought the bus tickets from genting to spore, we chiong-ed to the theme park!

ride 1: COCKSCREW
FABULOUS! the queue was v short.my bro guessed it right on the bull's eye. reason being many dared not to take the cockscrew cos it's scary (in fact, it is not) hahas. there was 2 sharp drops and 2 360 loops. the roller coaster was travelling really fast and it was really fun! i got a little giddy but went for another round.

ride 2: SPACE SHOT
INCREDIBLE! long queue cos ride could only take a maximum of 12 ppl. basically, you would be raised to some 20 storeys high SLOWLY, suspended up there for about 10 seconds before you would descend suddenly at a very very fast speed such that your butts would be off your seat during the descend and you would experience the effect of inertia - or rather feel as if your body was still up there. the 10 seconds of waiting while suspended in the air 20 storeys high was crazy. all of a sudden, you would get nervous and feel as if i shouldnt have got on to this ride but too late, 10 seconds is up and down you go! haha.

ride 3: FLYING COASTER
FANTASTIC! it's the first gliding coaster in asia i think. had to pay RM10 for the ride so there was no queue at all. you pay and on you go! hm only yun yun, papa, bro and i took this ride. many many many 360 turns and many many drops. very very fun.

then we had lunch at marrybrown. i had chicken rice and it was pretty tasty.

ride 4: THE SPINNER
it is something like a merry-go-round but is also something like a swing. i had some pics here. yupp. this was the ride we took about 6 times i think. yea.

genting theme park - spinner2
that's me on the spinner. nice shot papa.

genting theme park-spinner6
another shot.

along the way, bro and wen wen played at those game stalls. there was this game in which you have to throw a coin and see if the coin entirely land in a particular spot then you would win a prize. bro played but won nothing. wen wen spent about 10 tokens in this game, won 2 big bees and gave bro 1. i dont have much luck as always so i didnt join them.

ride 5: i dun seem to rmb the name of the ride.
ok there was a weight requirement. min. 35kg. max. 70kg. so we were required to be weighed before we could take the ride. i was like oh gawd, i have been gorging on fast food, chocs, sweet drinks and snacks. besides, i haven been exercising lately. i stepped onto the weighing machine and HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA my weight maintained at... hahas. cant tell! i was over the moon! and a little shocked i admit. ok anw, this ride is like a slide but you would be carried on a car. the ride was pretty fast. i loved the wind blowing against my skin. so cold!

ride 6: CYCLONE - the first roller coaster in msia and the first ride my family took when we first came genting.
VERY VERY LONG QUEUE. i think that the ride wasnt like a cyclone. it was more like a breeze. seriously, i dun think the long waiting time wasnt worthwhile. only a few drops. ok la at least it was better than the golden mine coaster. lol.

ride 7: GOLDEN MINE COASTER
lol. NOT FUN AT ALL. one drop and that's all.

ride 8: FLUME RIDE
queue was v long. at the very least, the ride was not bad. but i still prefer the one in sunway lagoon and in movie world. yun yun and uncle were in the boat in front of papa's and mine.

a photo of their boat going up the slide.
genting theme park-flume ride-heads down!
hahas HEADS DOWN!!!!!!!!

genting theme park-flume ride-uncle,tw
yun yun and uncle after first slide.

after the first slide, i got wet (as expected). furthermore, i was like so stupid not to wear my windbreaker. the wind blew and i was freezing. on top of that, the boat was travelling at a super slow speed and i became frozen.

the boat was moving so slowly that i could even ask papa to help me take a photo. lol.
genting theme park-flume ride-me on flume ride
yupp. me on flume ride!

in order to make the boat move faster, papa and i pushed the boat along the side of the channel.hahas.

after the flume ride, it was time we should head back to the skyway station in order not to miss our 6pm shuttle bus. we sat the spinner for the last 2 times and i bade farewell to genting theme park. byebye.

it was a fun-filled day. thank godness it didnt rain. but when we came down from genting back to our resort, i realised that my cheeks got sun-burnt and that day, i was down with flu. sad thing.

day 6 - genting to KL

we took a bus down from genting to KL and shopped at petaling street aka chinatown.
bought many things over there. food, drinks, clothes...
i merely got myself a tee shirt with spongebob, patrick and milo (it's a monkey if u r wondering) printed on it.

anw, it was v crowded so there were very few opportunities to take photos ):

petaling street-muachi stall
@ muachi stall. the muachi this ah ma sells was super duper tasty and very unique cos there were different flavoured muachi. there was the original, ribena, mango, pandan, black sesame flavoured etc. it is a definite MUST TRY!

petaling street-trying out muachi
eating muachi.

and this!
petaling street-nice drink
this stall sells some black-coloured drink. drink le very refreshing and cooling!

petaling street-i smiled
that's me. lol.

@ around 4 in the afternn, it started to pour. AGAIN?!
when it subsided, we made our way to some shopping mall. i bought beryl's almond coated with dark choc for frens (more for myself i think hahas).

when the sky got darker, we took bus back to genting skyway where we hopped onto the 9pm shuttle bus and headed back to our resort.

that night, (very very suay de) i got abdominal and stomach pains.

IT WAS CRAZY MAN.
the excruciating pain took away my beauty sleep and i had to spend most of my time in the toilet. morning soon set in but the pain wasnt even subsiding. in fact, it got worse.

day 7 - GENTING TO HOME

at about 3 or 4 am, mum gave me some medicine to eat and slept till 8.30 when my mum chased me out of the room. when i woke up, that damn medicine made me so drowsy that i felt like vomitting. i skipped breakfast, changed out of my sleeping wear, lay on the sofa till 9 when my mum (again!) chased me this time round out of the chalet. we got onto the shuttle bus which brought us to genting skyway where we went up to genting again. we settled at the lobby of the first world hotel. papa and uncle went to the casino while wen wen, yun yun and bro headed the arcade excitedly with me, dragging my whole body, trying to catch up with them. FINALLY, when time was up, we RAN back lest we missed our bus back to spore. the moment i got onto the bus, the pain returned. the journey downhill was almost horrible. in addition to my travel sickness (not v serious tho), i had to endured that abdominal pain. thank godness i managed to sleep during the journey. when the bus reached at some shop selling snacks at the foot of the mountain, i was awoken up and rushed to the toilet. after that i was feeling much better. at that shop, my dad chose a packet of chips for me to buy for esther.

from there, the bus drove us to some place to grab something to eat. my appetite was back and i had some claypot hokkien mee which tasted like yee mee =.= afterwards, it was the journey back to woodlands checkpoint. luckily, this time round, the bus driver was driving at a v fast speed. our journey from genting to woodlands checkpoint took only 6 hours. it was like you could only see the bus overtaking the other cars. lol.

it felt so nice to be back in spore. the air in spore in so much fresher or rather less polluted than that in KL. from the woodlands checkpoint, we took 170 again!, then mrt, lrt back home. yea HOME SWEET HOME :D

well, that's all i have to blog for my msia trip. i gotta catch my show! bye bye!
